Sara Muyco, Human Resources Specialist

Sara has been serving as TLC’s HR Specialist since September 2022. With a Bachelor’s in Communications and a SHRM-CP certification in progress, she is passionate about fostering positive, collaborative work environments.

Sara believes that supporting educators and staff who nurture children during these critical years is incredibly rewarding. By aligning organizational goals with employee satisfaction, she helps create a thriving, enriching atmosphere for both staff and children.

Outside of work, Sara enjoys cooking, gardening, organizing, and traveling—activities that allow her to unwind and tap into her creative side. She’s also known for her love of quoting movies, shows, and memes, using humor as a way to lighten the mood and bring joy to those around her. Whether it’s a classic line or a quick-witted joke, Sara always has a clever quote ready to brighten someone’s day.

Chely Najera, Administrative Assistant

Chely joined TLC Learning Center in May 2026 and serves as an Administrative Assistant, where she supports families, staff, and leadership through daily administrative and front desk coordination. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and brings strong skills in organization, communication, and service-oriented support to her role.

She was drawn to early childhood education by a belief that patience, encouragement, and a positive environment are essential to a child’s development. She is passionate about contributing to spaces where children feel supported, valued, and able to thrive.

Her professional interests include brain development, human resources, and management, with a focus on how supportive systems and relationships contribute to both individual and organizational success.

Outside of work, she enjoys dancing, spending time outdoors, cooking, and connecting with nature. A fun fact about her is that she also plays the drums, reflecting her creative and energetic spirit.

Emily Flake, Educational Services Assistant Manager

Emily Flake serves as the Educational Services Assistant Manager at TLC Learning Center, where she helps create a welcoming, organized, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts and brings a background in entertainment, where she developed strong skills in administrative support, organization, and creating positive experiences for others.

As the parent of three TLC students, Emily was inspired to join the organization after witnessing the impact of an inclusive, nurturing environment on her own children’s growth and development. Having volunteered with TLC before joining the team, she is passionate about supporting every child’s unique journey and helping families feel welcomed and connected.

Emily is especially interested in the role of theater and imaginative play in early childhood development. She enjoys exploring how dramatic play, storytelling, and creative expression can build children’s confidence, communication, social-emotional skills, and overall development.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys reading, gardening, baking, and spending time with family and friends. A fun fact about Emily is that one of her plays was published in an Anthology that reached the #1 spot for New Releases in Drama & Play Anthologies on Amazon.

Karianne Lesch, Child Health Liaison, Educational Services Billing Specialist

Karianne has been a valued member of the TLC team since June 2016, serving in several roles over the years, including teacher, Educational Services Assistant Manager, and now as the Child Health Liaison and Educational Services Billing Specialist. With a strong foundation in healthcare and early childhood education, Karianne holds certifications as a Large Center Director, Certified Lactation Counselor, and an ADN-RN from Denver College of Nursing.

Her passion for both children and the medical field drew her to TLC, where she is able to combine these interests in a role that promotes a nurturing, educational, and inclusive environment. Karianne is dedicated to staying up-to-date on health guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff, while also supporting families and the TLC team.

Outside of her professional life, Karianne enjoys spending quality time with her husband and son, as well as family and friends. She loves reading, gardening, and being on the water. Karianne’s son is also a current TLC student, which makes her connection to the organization even more personal.

Bernadette Koppang-Miller, Therapy Services Billing Specialist

Bernadette has been an integral part of the TLC team since June 2001, serving as the Therapy Services Billing Specialist. With a B.A. in Long Term Healthcare Administration, she brings a wealth of experience to her role, managing billing operations with precision and dedication.

Bernadette’s journey with TLC began when her own children graduated from the TLC class of 2001. Motivated by her passion for advocating for families living with disabilities, she was inspired to continue her connection with the organization, where she now champions this cause both professionally and personally.

Outside of work, Bernadette enjoys spending quality time with her family, reading, learning new things, and watching movies.

Christina McGuffin, Lead Cook

Chris joined TLC Learning Center in April 2026 and serves as the Lead Cook, where she prepares nutritious meals and supports a positive mealtime experience for children and staff. She holds a food handling certification and is committed to maintaining safe, healthy, and high-quality food service.

She enjoys working in an early childhood setting because she loves being around children and finds joy in their energy, laughter, and personalities. She is especially passionate about watching children grow, learn, and make progress throughout their time at TLC.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and cherishing family moments. A fun fact about her is that she also enjoys visiting history museums.
