Our Process
We know it’s not easy to select the right early learning experience for your child. Our admissions process makes it easier! The process begins with your visit to our Center. Following your tour, if you decide to enroll your child, you’ll complete a registration form.
+ Admissions Process
Step 1 – Schedule a School Tour
Enrolling and/or reserving a future space for your child is simple. Schedule a time for you and your child to visit us in our Center, by clicking on the “Book a Tour” tab at the top of this page. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to meet us and learn more about what we have to offer. This is important and helps to ensure that all parties are comfortable with their surroundings and expectations.
Step 2 – Complete Registration Form
After the tour, if you are interested in enrolling, you will complete a registration packet. Once the packet is completed, the Educational Services and Therapeutic Services Managers will review your child’s information to ensure the best possible fit for our classrooms. If there is a spot available, the ES Manager will contact you regarding next steps. If there is not an opening at this time, your child will be placed on a waitlist.
+ FAQ
What does TLC do and who does it serve?
TLC has two programs: pediatric therapy and early childhood education. We serve children from birth to age 12 in our occupational, physical, and speech pediatric therapies, and children ages eight weeks until they are ready for kindergarten in our fully inclusive infant nursery, toddler classrooms, and preschool classrooms. Most of our students live in Boulder County, but children from throughout the Front Range are welcome at TLC. “Fully inclusive” means children both with and without special needs are enrolled in all of our classrooms. Children enrolled in pediatric therapy have been assessed and have goals in place to support their individual needs in the classroom . Therapy needs range from speech and language delays to helping with fine and gross motor skills development; anything that may hinder a child’s ability to meet critical developmental milestones on a timeline appropriate for them. Children may be discharged from therapy upon meeting the goals set by their families and therapists or after their 12th birthday.
When are you open?
We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We operate year-round with a calendar similar to the St. Vrain Valley School District. We ask that children enrolled in our early learning program be on campus for a maximum of nine hours per day, according to best practices for healthy child development.
Tell me about your staff
Our teachers are highly trained in supporting early learners in their cognitive, physical, and social-emotional growth and are committed to the education of young children. Professional development is ongoing for all staff, with a center-wide commitment to the Pyramid Plus Model, a social-emotional curriculum that encourages healthy behaviors and relationships. We have highly trained, licensed speech, occupational, and physical therapists who specialize in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), lactation support, and toe-walking, among many other therapeutic supports. We are also fortunate to have a highly qualified administrative team that includes a CEO, vice-president, administrative support, billing specialists, and a development and fundraising team. TLC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization managed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
What does it mean to be a nonprofit?
TLC is a nonprofit because all dollars raised go back into the center via programs and scholarships. We do not have an owner; we are run by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of TLC current and alumni parents and community leaders. We hold two major fundraising events per year to help fund our programs, participate in Colorado Gives Day, and ask all TLC parents to commit to 25 volunteer hours per year.
What are your accreditations and affiliations?
TLC is a Colorado Shines Level Four-rated center; a Breastfeeding Friendly certified facility; a Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL)-certified facility; a certified Home Health Agency; a member of the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Longmont Economic Development Partnership; a member of the Assuring Better Child Health and Development (ABCD) Partnership of Boulder County; and is active with the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County. TLC receives funding from the Universal Pre-K and the Colorado Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP), in addition to funding from local businesses, foundations, and donors.
What are your tuition rates?
TLC’s tuition rates are market competitive, and reflect the cost of keeping the appropriate number of highly trained, licensed teachers in each classroom. Please click on the “Book a Tour” tab at the top of this page to schedule a tour and find out more about tuition rates.
Is financial aid available?
We are a non-profit organization committed to providing scholarships to families based on demonstrated financial need. We receive funding for tuition through CCAP, Universal Pre-K, government funding, foundations, and private donors. Financial aid will be awarded after completion of a scholarship application and approval. Available funding is first-come, first-served to eligible families. We provide funding to both education families and therapy families. We continuously strive to improve our fundraising efforts so we have more scholarship dollars available for families.
How long have you been in business?
TLC was founded in 1956 by parents of children with cerebral palsy to create a school in for their children to learn and thrive. We celebrated our 65th birthday in 2021 and are looking forward to our Platinum Jubilee in 2026. TLC is now a fully inclusive campus, serving ALL children, regardless of their abilities.
Originally named The Tiny Tim Center, TLC legally changed its name to the TLC Learning Center, Inc. in 2024.
+ Tuition Assistance
Financial Aid
TLC Learning Center offers several options for parents of preschoolers, in order to meet the individual needs of each family. We offer full-day preschool classrooms as well as two-, three-, or five-day options. We are open from 7:30am to 5:30pm and request that children attend for a maximum of nine hours per day.
Many families struggle to afford quality child care and therapeutic services for their children and about half of our families received some sort of financial assistance. Below are several ways that families can offset the cost of education and therapy services at TLC.
Universal Pre-K Program
Families apply for this funding through the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC). Children must be four years of age by October 1st. Eligibility is determined through an application process and applications are available online. Contact our Educational Services Manager at 303-776-7417 or visit the CDEC website for more information.
Colorado Child Care Assistance Program
The Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) provides financial assistance to low-income families that are working, searching for employment or are in training, and families that are enrolled in the Colorado Works Program and need child care services to support their efforts toward self-sufficiency. CCCAP is administered through county departments of social/human services.
Financial Assistance
TLC has a limited number of openings for families in need of financial assistance. These funds are solicited through annual fundraising and grant writing and thus the availability of slots is determined on an annual basis. Eligibility for this program is based on income and other at-risk factors. Families pay a small registration fee and a co-pay per month. For more information about financial assistance for tuition, please contact Educational Services Manager at 303-776-7417.
Therapeutic Services: Families without insurance, or who have high deductibles or are under-insured are encouraged to apply for financial assistance to meet their children’s needs. Please contact our Therapeutic Services Manager at 303-776-7417.
YogaKids: Financial assistance is available for qualifying families for our YogaKids classes. Please contact our Therapeutic Services Manager at 303-776-7417.
